Will Wright & E.O.Wilson talk games & learning on NPR

You might not have heard of E.O.Wilson, especially if you're not around Harvard:

Biologist E. O. Wilson, professor emeritus at Harvard University, is a two-time Pulitzer-winning ant expert who helped develop theories of island biogeography, chemical ecology, and sociobiology. A leader in the modern environmental movement, Wilson has devoted his life to understanding how all forms of life are connected.

He was interviewed recently by Will Wright, for NPR, and the conversation rapidly turned directly to games.

So the first question he asked Wilson was if he saw a role for games in the educational process.

"I'll go to an even more radical position," Wilson said. "I think games are the future in education. We're going through a rapid transition now. We're about to leave print and textbooks behind."

Halo 3 ODST

First and foremost lets clear up the name, ODST stands for "Orbital Shock Drop Troopers" who are UNSC special forces trained specifically for unorthodox warfare missions such as personnel recovery and counter terrorism.  These soldiers sually operate in small combat teams with your standard sniper, heavy machinery expert, and squad leader.

You start out in the game as the Rookie of the group.  This squad component of ODST plays very nicely into the four player co-op mode.  The game begins with your own search for your squad mates after you've been knocked unconscious after a not so steady landing.   In this game there will be no Cortana in your head to lead the way, largely due to the fact that you are not Master Chief or even a Spartan for that matter.

ODST is the top trending term on Twitter right now.

Four player co-op. Will someone tell me if it's as fun as L4D? Because if so, ooooh....
