Sounds like a AAA shooty game right? Wrong. It's an ARG to benefit cancer research!
Calling all agents...
The Agency need your help. They've teamed up with Cancer Research UK to thwart an evil organisation cunningly named 'E.V.I.L'.
Your mission is to unlock various sleeper cells hidden many years ago and represented as a square on the grid. Given the right amount of cash you can kick the cells back into action. Some will give you a mission, some contain special operations and live events, but every one will help us and Cancer Research UK in our mission.
Also, it was made for almost nothing by pro-bono game developers Law 37... who are on the lookout for collaborators. Adrian Hon says:
It's been an interesting journey working on it, back when I set up Let's Change the Game a year ago to now. There are a lot of things I could say about this - the fact that a team of about fifteen unpaid volunteers from around the world (they're called Law 37), none of whom are from the games industry, managed to make this game on only £1000.
Or that it will directly raise money for Cancer Research UK - as far as I'm aware, it is the first massively multiplayer game to solicit donations through an in-game mechanism.
Or that it's one of the most innovative puzzle games out there, with dozens of puzzles, live events, blogs, websites and challenges. There's a lot of talk about ARGs that will help raise awareness of issues or teach people teamwork, but we really want to show that there can be a concrete good from games - cold, hard cash that will help cure cancer.
Very, very cool.
(Thanks Adrian!)
