There I was, minding my own business being a tourist in SoHo when this sign jumps out at me. HOLLOW SIDEWALK it said. And guess who it belongs to?
Rockstar! I guess they couldn't quite afford a hollow mountain (yet), but a hollow sidewalk's not bad in the meanwhile.
So, what's that about? I don't get it. Signs in NYC have it on sometimes related to parking right (from my google search), but I have no idea why or what one looks like.
Give the answer in British English if possible :D

Yes please, someone elighten us. What exactly is a hollow sidewalk and why would one need to be cautious of it? Why does said warning sign have corporate logos on it? Are there these hollow sidewalks in Liberty City? Is it common to advertise by sticking your business card behind a sign?

These are important questions!
We need a native nooyawker. Someone fire up the batsignal.

I guess it implies that there is a basement or similar extending just below the sidewalk (or pavement for us brits) and that it would be therefore unwise to park your Hummer (or Gwhiz for us brits) on it, for fear of it collapsing.
I've seen similar signs in the UK, but without the corporate logo. And not saying 'sidewalk', obviously.

Hang on, you're from Brighton.

Indeed, it is to warn delivery trucks not to pull up and onto the sidewalk, which they might be inclined to do seeing how the streets in Soho are bit narrow.
Pedestrians need not be alarmed. The reason the signs vary (i.e. they aren't official NYC signs) is because it's the concern of the property owner, and not the city. They just don't want some heavy truck causing damage, which they'd have to fix.
And yes, locksmiths and restaurants stick their business cards/menus everywhere and anywhere, much to the annoyance of pretty much everyone.

Is it a hollow basement below the sidewalk. I would want to know when passing a sign like that.

Specialists state that loans aid a lot of people to live their own way, just because they can feel free to buy needed things. Moreover, some banks present short term loan for different classes of people.
