Well this is very odd. I was sure - had assumed? - that Pirates of the Burning Sea was Disney's upcoming Pirates MMO. I'm totally wrong.
Not only has Disney only just announced their upcoming Pirates MMO (even though they also announced their upcoming Pirates MMO two years ago as well - what's going on there?), but Pirates of the Burning Sea seems to be an indie production. Check out the trailer for a frankly impressive rip-off of the Pirates of the Caribbean music, bless 'em.
It looks a little short on environments, I think we might get pretty sick of tropical beaches pretty quick if there isn't a bunch of alternative areas to explore, but I'm being admittedly a bit judgemental here based on this one video. The FAQ beats the drum for the complex ingame economics, trading and resource management, so in that respect perhaps it's more like Eve Online but on water...?

That's funny; the beaches are new environments, so to our jaded eyes, they look like Exciting! New! Locations!
We've got a whole lot more, believe me. But the shiny newness hasn't worn off the beaches for us yet.
Beaches!
