I have no idea where I stumbled across this - it's been in my Firefox tab for a few days now. Getting back after a long break is tough, so much junk mail! So many things to wrestle control of.
Anyway - this is Darkest Island, a free homebrew PC first person shooter, made by just one bloke based in the UK. Apparently his little brother insisted he put it online, for free. Go little bro!
I finally finished Darkest Island over the weekend, and was able to give it to my friends and family as a late Christmas present. My little brother was very adamant about releasing this game online for people to play by the end of the year, so here it is. I have decided to make the game a free download. This was my practice run in making a large scale video game, and it is a little rough around the edges. But it is still really fun, and I hope everyone gives it a try.

Half-Life mod, I guess?
I'm loath to try anything new right now as my lappie suffered some setbacks after my marathon Indie Games Fest installs-and-deinstalls, so apols, I can't vouch either way for this one.
Bloody impressed by the one-man job, though. Mirror here.
it's not a half-life mod, either it's his own engine, or made with some kind of make-you-own-fps kit. anyways, it's quite impressive. neither is the gameplay very smooth, nor the graphics, handling, whatever. even the story isn't very original.
but all in all, the game is very well made, especially if he did it all alone - it must have been a huge effort.
