The technology is amazingly cool. The only problem is that with regular 3D printers (no color) it can cost $500 to get an object this size fabricated, currently. :(
Something is going to have to seriously change before this sort of product would be remotely affordable.


Yeah.. a few years, a bit of Moore's Law, and we're there :)


If Moore's Law applied here, they would already be affordable- stereolithography has been commercially available for almost 20 years (and the prices for the "prints" haven't changed that much). It's only recently that their use has begun to expand, though, and I suspect the growth of the market will drive a price decrease.

I'm convinced that in 50 years, everyone will have a 3D printer at home; I'm afraid it just might take another 10 or 20 years before they become cheap enough for everyone to use.


As you certainly know blizzard did create their figureprint service now.
As this service is not allowing delivery in Europe, mount, pets, etc, other companies have followed the trend and did propose the missing alternatives
