Speaking of which... Pink Plague from the Daily Wail, for once on the right track.
Experts claim a 'pink plague' on the High Street is deliberately widening the gap between the sexes by putting undue pressure on youngsters to conform to traditional roles.

When did this gross sea of pink consume us?
And what is with that monstrosity. Reminds me of the dreadful Daisy Rock instruments.

This trend is a decade old already. Are you really just noticing? Here in the States at least, by the late '90s the pendulum had swung back toward the Britney Spears image of female influence, and it just... stuck there.
The early to mid nineties were a nice time to be a teenager. Girls didn't hide behind an inch of makeup, and tended to be made fun of if they couldn't form a thought on their own. Admittedly, I did enjoy it when skirts started to filter back in though.
