I've just got back from Tokyo, and you know what? This year it's all happening in Nottingham.
TGS was frankly a bit of a washout, oddly. Has it got too big? Too clever? Just an off year? Whereas over here in Blighty, in a few weeks at Game City, there's going to be a world record attempt at massed zombies. Who will do a flashmob Thriller attempt... to the tune of re: your brains by Jonathan Coulton. Who will, in fact, be there.
Go Nottingham!

ZOMBIES MARCH ON THE MARKET SQUARE
As you might be aware, this year we're making a number of World Record attempts at the festival. The most splendid of which is a Halloween attempt on the LARGEST GATHERING OF ZOMBIES.
That's right folks - from 2pm on Halloween you should get yourself down to the Old Market Square in Nottingham and be made up and registered as an official Zombie in time for the record attempt, which takes place at 5pm.
But that's not enough, right?
Of course not.
At 5pm, you'll also get to take part in a large scale reconstruction of the famed Thriller dance routine (without having to do any time in a Filipino Prison) :

Don't worry, we have people there who will show you the moves.
Enough?
No, thought not.
At 5pm, to mark this occasion, JONATHAN COULTON, in town for his headlining Harmonix / Halloween gig that evening will be leading the massed throng of Zombies in a Chorus of his brilliant song, "re:your brains", accompanied by both the crowd - and a massed choir of zombie singers.
As Coulton himself remarked, "I would be crazy to say no to the option of an outdoor zombie singalong led by a city choir. That's the whole reason I became a musician, I now realize. Sign me up."
What do you mean you don't know the words? It's ok, we thought of that. Download the official songsheet here:

(The bits you sing are in red.)
You want to play along too? Ok, ok. Download the guitar tab and chords here:

Just make sure you tune up before 5. We'll have somewhere you can get concert pitch from in the make-up tent.
Please please send in your photos if you go. I can't go and I'm gutted.

it's undead shenanigans like this that make me glad to be alive, i tells ya

We just hit 881 zombies doing the Thriller dance here in Austin. We'll see how GameCity does...

If you hear it and I don't, shoot me a message and let me know!

you know, it would be just our luck if a real zombie outbreak occurred nearby just when you're all gathered there dressed like them. *shivers* best of luck.
