No Wii Fit
Can't find Wii Fit anywhere. It's really boring.
However, I'm in the US right now, for 9 days hol in Cali. If I buy a US version, will it work with my UK Wii, I wonder?

it will have an american accent, which I'm specualting will be more grating when one is being exhorted to streach more than the english one. also the board is really quite heavy and I wouldn't fancy lugging one home.

Welcome to California. Enjoy the smoke!

No it won't as the Wii consoles are region encoded, however you could always buy it in the US and then get the freeloader for the wii. That would hopefully work then :).

I think that the latest update to the wii dashboard broke Freeloader. Probably best to wait for a UK version.

It's not been out in the US for very long, so I'd be frankly shocked if you could find a Wii Fit here when you couldn't in the UK. It would definitely involve camping out at big-box retailers and so on.

I've seen them on the shelves at several shops in Liverpool. Either London is "special" or you're not looking hard enough :-)

Even if the disc did work (which I doubt) - that box is bloody heavy. The hassle of flying it back to London might not be worth it.

They are certainly really, *really* hard to come by, at least down south / the London area.
I ended up camping on updates from http://www.wiipreorder.co.uk/wii-fit.aspx and managed to sneak in an order in the end. At one stage there was a recommendation that UK folk order from Amazon DE or FR (same region as a UK Wii console), but they both ran out of stock fast.
The box is really heavy, so I'm guessing you don't want to bring that back with you. Shipping would cost a lot.

i sincerely hope freeloader hasn't broke already since i only just bought one to play an american copy of mario galaxy, and i need it to play my import GC games!
i've heard wii fit is still hard to get hold of in america too (although when i had that problem with nintendogs i found big department stores where they kept games in a glass case hidden behind the fridge section to be my best bet) but if you do find it, you could get it for the board, and then buy the UK game off ebay pretty cheap on it's own (if freeloader doesn't work that is).
alternatively, two other techniques (i've been searching for wii fit for the past 3 weeks in both manchester and london): try ringing argos (don't bother with the website, i think they cancelled web reservations after people started selling them on ebay) or have http://www.wii-consoles.co.uk/wii-fit-in-stock.asp open whenever you are on the computer - i finally got lucky with toys r us today but they sold out again within minutes :s
good luck with your wii fit hunting! have you got/pre-ordered smash bros brawl? cos i hear that one might end up in a similar situation, although not quite the same mass general public appeal, and not exactly to everyone's tastes :)

I'm afraid Wii console update 3.3 has stopped Freeloader from working. It also stopped the Twilight Hack from working for all of 2 days as well.

Nah, it's region-coded. I've seen it in stores in Brighton so I'm pretty sure you won't have too much trouble finding one when you get back.
I really must play with mine. I wonder how many are lying unopened in houses around the world? :)

They are not easy to come by in california either. I have been caling about once a week to my local gamestop. Everytime i ask, they tell me they haven't gotten any since he original shipment.
They do make it seem like you can get them by displaying a whole lot of empty boxes though. When you ask, they are usually out though.

Got mine via Argos - check the website early in the morning, either for stock for home delivery or stock at your nearby stores which you can then reserve. Worked for me within a couple of days ...

I live in NYC and I've been looking for Wii Fit ever since it was released. I actually found a few at a store when I was visiting California, but the owner was charging $200, which is ridiculous. My search continues...

I checked Best Buy on 6th Ave. and 23rd St. in Manhattan yesterday and to my surprise, Wii Fit was in stock. I had to ask a salesperson though; it wasn't on display. My search is over!
