BSG's Razor: online premiere

Sci-Fi.com (US) are so cool. The intro to Season Four of one of telly's greatest ever creations, Battlestar Galactica, is going to be broadcast online as a premiere, with a DVD print following very fast (some reports say on the same day, others December 4th).  Pretty sure no-one's ever done this before.

The special two-hour episode "Razor", which will serve as a backdrop for the events of season four of Battlestar Galactica, tells the story of Lee Adama's first mission as the commander of the battlestar Pegasus — and the harrowing tale of that ship's desperate fight for survival in the immediate aftermath of the Cylon's genocidal siege of the Twelve Colonies.

November 24th, 9pm Eastern. Tricky, that's 2am in London; how do you set the video to record something off the web, eh? I guess that's called Bittorrent. Meanwhile, see the trailer here. (No embedding, boo.)

And what's this? A PC gamelet too?

But, affectionate teasing aside, it seems to be made by Sierra Online, and I'm downloading it now to have a look. They shipped it on time, as well.

What kids learn in virtual worlds

"If you're a parent, I would be much less concerned about things like online predators or violence, than I would be about the conflation between consumption and consumerism and citizenship (in virtual worlds). Because our kids are being taught that to be a good citizen of this world you got to buy the right stuff," Thomas said during the panel, which was being simulcast via video over the Internet.

Here's a sweet thing: an educational game (it teaches you English vocabulary) that also donates to charity.

For every question you get right, you donate ten grains of rice to a country that needs feeding. At the same time, you're learning yer words. How lovely is that?

Someone's actually gone and done it, and the players listing their profiles should do in, once and for all, this idea that gamers are fat and spotty and never leave the house.

WoWers are officially hawt! I shall no longer feel any guilt whatsoever about levelling up Crystaltips when I should be at the gym. Pass the doughnuts, and is it patch day yet?

All talk, no trousers

I logged into WoW for a bit today to push my baby Blood Elf Paladin around The Barrens a bit, and I thought, omg, where are my trousers??

It wasn't until I got to Orgrimmar to go buy something to cover my bum that I realised those saddlebag things ARE my trousers.

Blood Elves aren't really me. I need my orc back.

That's better. At least her thighs are a bit more badass, even if they're still nekkid.

Chain Chomp cosplay

Brain training

Phantom Hourglass is completely pwning me. I am getting so lame in my old age.
I'm stuck in the second (or is it third) dungeon now; done all the gem shards, and I'm on the top floor in front of the door with the second spirit logo on it, with no idea what to do next. This is the sort of time you wish you had a handy 8-year-old around to complete your humiliation by showing you what to do.

Meanwhile, in the WoW world, I'm rediscovering my lvl 60 orc warlock; can't remember how to operate a warlock at all, after 14 months of running a damage mage around. All her gear is unfashionably out of date. I feel like a twink who's bought a lvl 60 off eBay.

This weekend is supposed to be Sorting The Tax Return weekend, which probably means a lot of time in Azeroth. I wonder what would happen if game mechanics were applied to tax returns..
