Super old this, and it's been all over the game blogs, but I missed it. Multiboxing is the art (for it is an art) of playing multiple MMO characters at the same time, with each [or multiple] character[s] assigned to its own computer. Hence boxes.
I used to share a server with this fella called Xzin, who is famous for five-boxing his own party team (to party up in WoW you typically need 5 players), as well as pvping as a 5-man group. Here are his characters, all warlords at the time of this shot:
You'd see them kicking about Orgrimmar every now and then, and it would always stop folks in their tracks. Crafting, trading and spamming would pause, and you'd half-imagine a hush descending on the Horde capital as Xzin and his troupe went about their business.
A typical 5-boxing setup will usually be clustered around a desk, although the really great thing about Xzin is that he and his girlfriend do this together, and their .. hell, their Bridge is just amazing to see.
Astounding, really. I'm sure a lot of the reaction to this sort of thing is "oh, sad!" or the like, but this is elevating a process to art, it really is. Sure, it's obsessive compulsive, but so are people who collect trainers, or ladies who like to spend $800 on a handbag.
I'm just super impressed with the symmetry of it all. It's all so spic and span!
(via my guildies)

Wow, and I thought I was a bit extreme 2-boxing just to get a priest levelled. I can't imagine the coordination that must go into controlling 5 toons (not to mention the fiddling with macros!)

If I'm not mistaken those are Ikea Jerker desks. I have one of those. :) Some guy form the 'Ikea Jerker fan club' contacted me once about it, after seeing a partial picture of it on a review I did for something or other. It has a very odd cult following...

That is Gameslah's setup, not mine.
