I haven't checked out Neopets since something like 2002. It was so ugly! Going back now, it's changed a lot - check out this neopet: looks like a WoW Gnome Mage to me...
Neopets has become far more intricate than I ever gave it credit for. By adding virtual currency, they'll join the growing ranks of folks making a crazy amount of money from virtual goods sales, a trend started in (I think) Korea eons ago.
