Social software for managing Second Lives

Aleks and Jo have discovered BlogHUD, a bit of nifty socsoft designed to socially explore points of interest in Second Life.

Users wear it in the virtual world and when they come across something they think people might find interesting, they type /9 and a description. Each entry can be categorised into five channels (e.g., shop, event). This text goes to BlogHUD.com, where other people can browse without needing to enter the application. If they fancy something they see, they can click on the post and shazam, they're in the world, at the place.

Because Second Life is so huge, and there's more to see than the average avatar will ever manage to get to, this sounds like a useful app.

This will be very useful. I do miss that I used to be able to simply fly over the old continent and see everything (about a year and a half ago), but now it's far too big for that. And the fact that everything is always in flux makes it especially difficult.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
