MMOGs as communities
[Rich] Vogel says an MMOG is foremostly a place for people to gather. “That's what communities are,” he says, adding that they are “a place to vent passionately,” too.
And lots more from Sony (Online Entertainment)'s VP of Product, on MMOGs and marketing...

Rich hasn't been with SOE for a while now.
The talk sounds like it was maybe an updated version of the one he and I did at GDC a few years back, and which I just put back up on my website:

Unfortunately, IE-only right now I think. :( I am working on converting all the old presentations to a Firefox-etc-friendly format.
