I couldn't take notes on the Games Get Sociable panel at EIEF because I produced it, which meant I was sat in the front row nominally timing the moderator. But luckily, that Krotoski chick grabbed the keyboard-smashing baton and RUN WITH IT. Go Aleks!

Ian:
What’s the future?

Sampo:
It’s going to be more about the social experience, and openness. Some of the development companies focus on Human-Computer interaction. I think that’s so 20th century. [Audience laughs]
We need to focus on the human–to–human interaction.

Jeff:
More things will happen and people will have more choice. As we move forward, we want to develop a platform which will appeal to both users and creative partners. Our killer app now is voice. There’s more emotion with voice, and I think the social experiences people will get through chat software and voice interaction will change the nature of sociability in these game spaces.

Sweet vision there from Jeff: "There’s more emotion with voice, and I think the social experiences people will get through chat software and voice interaction will change the nature of sociability in these game spaces.". I can't wait to have some 13-year-old brat yell "LOL you GAY n00b!" at me with his voice parsed through a kick-arse voice modulator. Cute, eh? Let's not even get started on what 'social experiences' some women have to put up with when using "chat software".
