Rental Char
This is interesting. TerraNova reports that GamePal is offering a rent-a-character service for MMO play. For a fee, the customer gets an already-levelled character login for the game of their choice through the post. Can't be arsed to level up your elf mage in World of Warcraft to figure out if you like Alliance/Elves/Spells? Want an alt, to play the other side with, or another guild with? Well you can, without having to sort out purchasing the game and setting up a subscription or whatnot.
Not only can you rent characters, you can purchase them if you like them. There's something amusingly grubby about this. A vessel that's had other people's sticky fingers on it .. hmm. Like the squidgy clutch on a rental car, you're renting or even buying a character with a personality history - and you don't know what that history is. Eww.
What if the char you're driving around spent last week harassing lady orcs over in Orgrimmar? Or yelling nauseating abuse in a cantina somewhere? What a curious phenomenon. Let's hope the Easy group don't get wind of it, else we might have bright orange EasyDwarves bumping into walls and causing pileups at spawn points. Oh boy.

Did you see their prices? $129 per month for 1 char rental? KK, but no thx. :(
